It’s time for the summer Lucky Star reviews and let’s start with the younger sister of the Hiiragi twins: Tsukasa! This is actually the second figma of Tsukasa to be released. About a year ago the four main Lucky Star girls already got released in red winter uniforms, but now it’s time for their blue summer versions!
For those who are not familiar with Tsukasa, here’s a brief explanation thanks to Wikipedia-sensei:
Tsukasa Hiiragi (柊 つかさ) is the younger fraternal twin sister of Kagami Hiiragi and lives in a six-member family household. She is in the same class as Konata Izumi. She isn’t good at studying or at sports, but excels in cooking. Tsukasa often depends on Kagami for help on her homework, like Konata, but their reasons are different: Tsukasa easily forgets her assignments, while Konata is just too lazy or preoccupied with her hobbies to do them herself Unlike some of the other characters in the series, Tsukasa has not shown any particular interests in video games and anime, but she does like the Sgt. Frog series.
And a short clip~
Anyway, on to the figma! Let’s check out the box first~
All the boxes of the girls look the same: a cloudy background with the character on the side. They do all have a different color though, as you can see Tsukasa’s is yellow.
The contents are pretty cool! We have all the basics, like extra sets of hands, a figure stand, an extra face… But this time, we also see a blank face and an extra head!
“Hey winter ver. Tsukasa! Take off your head!” “Eh?”
The girls come with extra heads of extra characters from the series! Tsukasa comes with my second favourite character of the series (after Konata): Hiyori Tamura! Here’s a video why Hiyori is awesome:
In short: Hiyori is a manga artist. That’s all you need to know about her, really XD Oh, and she’s kinda perverted.
So yeah, the figures all have a blank face. What’s up with that you ask?
Here’s what! A sticker sheet! Now I will be honest, I tried to make some funny faces with the stickers, but especially the mouths are really hard to place well, because the face is so curvy there. They usually fell off, but I did manage to get one amusing photo:
It does open a world of possibilities for new faces, which is a smart thing to do. Especially since the minor characters only come with one face! However, it does look kinda cheap, and as I said, it isn’t flawless. I actually would love if Max Factory would release some sort of “expension pack” for the Lucky Star series girls. All the girls have sharable faces, so you could make a little pack with various face expressions, for all eight current released girls. But hey, at least we can make our own without using paint and whatnot!
